In The Garden

I have been working outside in the garden. I value time outside so much. And to have a place to create is very dear to me!

Soon to be: mosaic birdbaths in the shop. I saved some broken ceramics, adding to the supply through the winter. And now they are being used.

Enjoy this day!

Easter Weekend

I am not sure it has never happened before, but this year my birthday fell on Easter Sunday! It was a wonderful weekend and birthday!! A few pictures. My dinner out to celebrate with my dear sweet Jason and some of his family. Also some pictures of Joseph with his little Addie. A few more old photos scanned in as well. Unfortunately, no information on the backs of the pictures. I had to slip in a photo of Amelia standing on a guitar amp. And a recent altered couture creation.

Mahimahi. Sweet potato. Salad. Cheesecake. Yum!

I love the old porch photo. I wonder how old it is. I used an app to put a little more color in and bring out some detail!! Look at the little girl's headband.

Enjoy this day!

B J Harrison

Dear Peeps,

No, this is not the name of a new pet or a new friend. This is the name of a furniture maker who was in business from the mid-1800s to about 1920. Arkville, New York. They manufactured some amazing folding chairs. I was thrilled to find four of them on my recent trip to see my sister. I honestly do not know a lot about the company, but I am thinking it stayed in business by way of a son from his father. At any rate, these chairs are in great shape and are approaching 100 years old. They are perfect for the shop.

I have planted a few more flowers in front of the shop. I am really looking forward to making more birdbaths. The past few days have been very very spring like. We have had sunshine and warm weather!

A rusted shepherd's hook stands next to the store's steps. (Say that fast 10 times!)

Yesterday we had a sudden and considerable hail storm.

The hail started out small and got bigger over time. It lasted for about 6-7 minutes. Crazy!

I will start sharing recent new inventory! Hope everyone is well. Be thinking of my sweet mama who is in awful pain with her back.

Enjoy this day!

Home From A Wonderful Visit

Dear Friends,

What a week this has been so far! It feels like Monday to me today (it's Wednesday) because I took three days off from my life and went to see my sister! Oh, we had fun!! we talked and talked and talked. We shopped for the shop. We walked the dogs. My sister took very good care of me. She is a good listener and a good friend. She facilitated some major healing in my heart. I feel I have taken many many steps forward because of her!

I want to share some pictures of my bonding time with her newest dog, Bruno. Bruno likes to sit in the chair with you. He likes to sit in your lap. He likes to lick your face. And your ears.

And now, for the most fun of all. Bruno goes wild when you blow in his face.

So that is all for now. I bought a lot for the shop. Pictures to come.

Enjoy this day!

Shop Being Readied For Spring

Dear Peeps,

This week has been busy thus far. I am preparing for this weekend when I will have a sidewalk sale and I am also planning a trip to Virginia. It is out with the old and in with the new. Spring is near! It is time for plants, birdbaths, lightweight clothing and springy home decor. A sidewalk sale is the perfect way to purge. I wanted to post before today, but here I am now. ;) With blogging, it is really my desire to post daily. Sigh. I do what I can.

A birdbath that I made, now about 5 years old, sits in the little garden at Sidetracked. I am planning to make and sell several of these over the spring and summer. This particular birdbath is chunky and whimsical; however, birdbaths can be made in many styles. I love making them.

I made a vest this past week out of a sweatshirt. Oh my! It surpassed my thoughts of what it could be. Cut the sleeves off. Cut the sweatshirt down the front middle. Trim the edges with what you like. Use the sleeves to make pockets!

The pockets end up being so deep and roomy, I am calling this a garden vest in my mind, and yet I have been kicking around in this vest for a couple of days now over two different outfits.

It is just the right amount of warmth on these spring days! And, again, I love how roomy and deep the pockets are! I can put my entire checkbook size wallet in one of them and feel confident that it won't fall out.

A photo of shop inventory.

When I have a few extra minutes I whip up little shopping bags to put large purchases in. It is quick. I am overrun with fabric scraps and this is the perfect use. Two squares sewn together. Add handles.

That is all I have for now. Thanks so much for recent comments.

Enjoy this day!
