Thank goodness for the Internet.

Dear Peeps,

I am so thankful right now for the Internet and an iPad. I don't want to sound like I don't like watching my grandchild. I do! However, my brain cells are completely saturated with SpongeBob Square pants and Frozen. And Duplo building blocks. And toddler food. And stepping on toys. So it feels like perhaps I am in touch with my adult self to get on line. Am I making sense? Am I still speaking English? Am I an adult? I think I am.

As if in a dream, Greyson and I watch Frozen for the fifth time.

In a trance, Greyson watches Frozen for the 12th time.

And Greyson has forgotten which toy he's holding because he is frozen watching Frozen.

Now, lest you think that I have allowed nothing but television, the days under the circumstances are long. I have been here all day Friday, all day Saturday, and all day Sunday. The children, especially little Greyson, realize that something is amiss. They have been excellent children, but Greyson has been waking up in the night a bit disoriented. I have worked very hard to keep them on schedule, with breakfast, lunch, dinner, bathtime and naptime at the right times. Still, trips to the store to get bread or bananas and a trip to the hospital to see new baby have gotten us off schedule at times.

I may never want to watch Frozen again.

That is all.

Enjoy this day!

Lynn

  1. I hear you! Jace loves Frozen! I don't quite know why. He has an Olaf blanket and stuffed Olay he has to take a nap with. Maybe it's all those pretty blues they used in the movie. I tell myself this too shall pass:). I love watching my grandson, but yes, the Internet is my lifeline!

  2. You made me laugh with this post! I can imagine myself feeling the same after the excitment of actually ever having a grandchild wore off. Isn't that what they say about grandchildren. You enjoy them for a while and then hand them back:) Anyway, belated congrats on your beautiful new granddaughter!

  4. I know you you feel - we grow 'away' from child-minding in later life, and that's the way it should be. We've done our time ! much as we love our grandchildren, we can't go back to the days when they filled our whole days and lives.
    Congratulations by the way.

    1. Thanks, Wean. I know what you mean about the typo. I do that frequently! And I agree with your sentiments. It has been such a beautiful thing to watch my son make a home and a family with someone he loves. I like to be involved in a healthy way as they get established.
